The novelty factor is off the charts…

Move over Doha to Auckland, that 9,025 mile – 18 hour Qatar Airways flight just isn’t going to cut it come October. Singapore Air will relaunch the worlds longest flight spanning 9,503 miles between New York’s Newark Airport and Singapore Changi International. The flight, operated by a jet lag reducing Airbus A350-900ULR has officially gone on sale as of this morning, and enthusiasts now have their shot to book onto the worlds longest flight, in relative comfort.

Premium Economy Sale

In celebration of the route launch, Singapore Air has select dates in October (the month the flight launches), November and December beginning at $1,488 round trip. This price secures you a seat in Singapore Air’s award winning Premium Economy cabin, with lots of extra leg room, Singapore Slings, Champagne, great food and entertainment. $1,200 round trip is about the lowest we ever see Singapore sell Asia, and it’s usually from the West Coast, so scoring $1,488 round trip seats on the worlds new longest flight is pretty cool. As of writing, a seat on the special inaugural flight from Newark to Singapore is available for $1,600 round trip. Flights departing Singapore also begin at around $1,600 round trip, though the inaugural is far more expensive at $3,200.

Business Class Is Pricey

A mixed fare of one way in Premium Economy and the other in Business Class would run $4,288 round trip, while an all Business Class return would set you back $6,000. Now, if you have the money, there’s no question that taking an inaugural flight up front is a very cool experience, but $6,000 is pretty steep! But then again, you are getting almost 40 hours of round trip business pampering on one of the best planes and seats in the skies. There are certainly worse ways to blow your money! Schedule a business meeting in Singapore, or New York?

How To Book The Longest Flight

At the moment, these fares can only be booked on SingaporeAir.com. You’ll need to make sure all your search parameters are correct, otherwise the engine won’t even let you search. You must select Premium Economy first, and then select any dates from October 11th for all Singapore departures or October 12th for New York departures. Then enter EWR to SIN, or vice versa. This will bring up the newly loaded direct flights. If you’d like to see a calendar of the lowest prices, simply select “7 day fares”. You’ll generally find the lowest prices for Sunday departures out of New York City.
