Use miles or a cheap flight to get back, if you need to!
TAP Portugal is a Star Alliance airline to watch. As the first airline to receive the new Airbus A330-900neo, the Portuguese carrier celebrated by installing some of the best business class seats complete with cozy flat beds and extra large entertainment screens. Not only that, they launched a stopover program, which allows you to stop in Lisbon, Portugal for no additional airfare, turning any trip into a 2 for 1. You can totally use that with these deals!
To get the word out, the airline has ridiculously good business class fares, which allow you to fly one way from European cities to New York from £495 ($650) one way. All you’ll need to do is use miles, or find a cheap flight back the other way. These deals can totally be worth booking, even if you don’t live in any of the cities, especially if you can find a cheap flight or use points to get to the deals. For 8+ hours of a bed in the sky, it’s a serious bargain…
The Flight Deals
It’s a lot easier to cash in points for a great flight when you only need to go one way, in part because you only need half the miles! With these one way business class deals to the USA taking care of either the outbound or return leg of your trip, you can use miles one way or find a cheap cash fare on Google Flights to go the other way.
TAP has relaunched these awesome fares, which are available from Oslo and Copenhagen at the lowest prices, and London or Dublin for just a tiny bit more. Here’s Google Flights links to each amazing deal…
The Travel Dates
These deals are pretty wide open, with availability on and off throughout 2019. The best way to find and book these deals is to search on Google Flights looking for dates in “green” which are the lowest prices.
Once you find a deal that works for you, you’ll want to go to TAP’s website to book direct, especially if you want to utilize the free stopover in Portugal for up to five days! On the TAP Portugal website, business class is noted as “Executive”. Just scroll down until you find it. Oh, and Miami is also available at similar prices…
- £495 Oslo to New York.
- £533 Copenhagen to New York.
- £545 Copenhagen to Miami.
- £575 London to New York.
- £580 Dublin to New York.
I’m getting closer to United Million Miler status and would like to be sure a flight segment booked on TAP would qualify.
Do you know how I can be sure that’s the case? I’ve heard of some instances of partner tickets not qualifying for Elite status miles or in a few cases not counting for anything at all.
Just want to know what fare class, etc would be ideal or if I should try booking this on United to be sure.
Unfortunately the price is almost 2x higher for the nonstop to SFO ($1200) but still a good deal. And only $600 from Dublin.
