British Airways faces fierce competition for European travel but it’s clearly a battle they intend to win. The airline has just launched a promotion offering bonus miles for flights within Europe, offering the potential to receive enough miles for two free flights. Here’s everything you need to know to score a great rebate on upcoming European travel…
The Deal
In addition to the Avios points you’d usually earn, British Airways is offering a bonus promotion. Two round trips over the next four months on any fare (even hand luggage only) would net 4,000 Avios. But if you’re able to manage four round trips over the course of the next four months, or eight one way segments you’ll score 16,000 bonus Avios – for travel completed by June 30th. Combined with the regular Avios earned from the flights, that should be enough for a long haul upgrade or two round trip short haul flights!
The Fine Print
The first, and pretty much only rule is that previously made bookings don’t count. To take advantage of this promotion, you must first register here. Once registered, simply book any British Airways flight within the stated areas (pretty much all of Europe) and fly before June 30th, 2018. To the best of our knowledge, UK domestic segments will not count. All the cheapest sale fares and hand luggage only fares will count, making this a particularly generous offer. Full details can be found here.
Maximizing The Avios
If you’re completing one round trip per month, you’ll likely end up with over 20,000 Avios once the 16,000 bonus points appear. We love booking Premium Economy and then upgrading to Club World Business Class using Avios, it’s an excellent value. Using the points to cover expensive flights in Europe, starting at just 4,500 points each way can also maximize your return. And don’t forget – you can use your points for short flights on other airlines like Qantas, Japan Airlines, Cathay and more, all around the world.
I thought this is only domestic so cant book PE. correct?
How does this work for couples? If I did two city breaks with the missus would that classify as 8 single one way trips?
If you did two city breaks as a couple, you’d both end up with 4k bonus miles. If you did four city breaks together you’d end up with 32,000 bonus miles between the two.
