Onewolrd airlines (think BA, American, Finnair, Iberia) have launched a nice business class sale from Sofia to many destinations in North America. At the same time, British Airways is selling cheap Business class tickets to Sofia from London. That makes for a perfect storm to earn elite status, in just one trip.
For a return flight from London to Sofia you will earn 160 Tier Points, the return flight from Sofia to North America with 1 stop will give you another 440 Tier Points, so a total of 600 TP’s, which is enough for Oneworld Sapphire, if you credit the flights to British Airways Executive Club.
The bad news: You have to buy 2 tickets to get from London to Sofia for that price. The good news: Star Alliance flights are as well available for the same price from Sofia, but you won’t earn the Oneworld Sapphire status in that case of course. Here’s how to book…
Travel Dates
These fares are available from December 2020 until spring 2021. You have to travel on a TUE/WED/THU for the Outbound flight and on a MON/TUE/WED for the Inbound flight to Sofia.

Nice.
Don’t plan on travelling long haul though until this calms down a lot more OR an accurate saliva based test is mandatory prior to check-in.
Nice deal if you don’t mind BA’s treatment of their staff, the very ones who helped them make such a big profit last year! They are facing redundancy or at least a 50% permanent salary cut.
I would not with the shortest connection time of 13 hours at LHR
Who would want status with BA going forward, so I a badge of shame for their treatment of staff and a dunces hat for buying into a brand that shows such disdain for their customers.
Any chance to combo this with reduced status thresholds announced by BA? I can’t quite connect the dots on some good scenarios
