You had me at 200,000 points…

It’s a great time to own a business, or at least control it’s finances! Invoices which once could only be paid via cheque can now often be paid by card, and with bonus categories on business expenses, you can turn the pain of expenses into incredible travel gain. Today, is a fantastic example. Capital One has limited time bonuses on two great business cards, bringing $2,000 cash or at least 150,000 airline miles as a welcome bonus, once you complete some spending!

The only catch? The limited time welcome bonuses end in less than two weeks…

The Limited Time Offers

The Capital One Spark Cards have received quite an upgrade this year, including 5X points on hotels and car rental when booked via Capital One Travel, 2X on everything else and up to $100 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck fee credit to make actual business travel easier. Putting the cherry on top, the card now offers an incredible welcome bonus.

No one likes taking their shoes off or their laptop out!

Both cards are bringing up to $2,000 in cash as a welcome, or in the case of Spark Miles, the opportunity to instead turn those 200,000 Capital One Miles into at least 150,000 airline miles with a variety of airlines, including: Emirates, Air France, Etihad, Cathay Pacific, EVA, Qantas, Singapore, Qatar Airways, Air Canada, JetBlue and more…

Sadly, we now know that these bonuses end January 27th, 2020, so you have about two weeks to lock these in at the amazing offer rate…

The limited time bonuses work as follows…

  • Spark Miles for Business: Earn 50,000 bonus miles when you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months and earn 150,000 bonus miles when you spend $50,000 in the first 6 months of your account opening (application link here).
  • Spark Cash for Business: Earn a $500 cash bonus when you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months and earn $1,500 when you spend $50,000 in the first 6 months of your account opening date (application link here).

In both cases, you may need to click through the initial link to see this limited time higher bonus, but you will see it on the application.

Doing a little math…

If you spent the full $55,000 in the first six months to trigger the full welcome bonuses entirely on Hotels or Car Rentals through Capital One Travel, you’d end up with an impressive 275,000 points – on top of the 200,000 point (150,000 airline mile), or $2,000 welcome bonus!

That would mean $4750 in cash back, or at least 356,000 airline miles in the first six months, which is nothing short of incredible on the earning scale.

This Is An Absolutely Massive Bonus

150,000 airline miles can take you to some amazing places. In fact, we have a guide on how to fly anywhere in the world with Capital One Venture Miles. From first class trips to Europe or Asia to JetBlue flights for the whole family, there are so many ways to spend these points.

And if you go for the cash back option, by keeping the points in Capital One, you can spend the $2,000 towards most travel purchases, earning yourself more miles or elite status when you do! Incredibly, the annual fee is waived for the first year and just $95 per year after that, which makes it one of the more reasonable business cards chock full of benefits.

And obviously, if you’re earning 5X on hotels and car rentals and 2X on everything else, you’ll be racking up more rewards fairly quickly as well. More details here.

  1. Hi Gilbert
Wouldn’t total spend be 50k not 55k? Meaning the initial 5k counts as part the 50k that triggers the larger bonus and is not in addition to.
