One thing is for sure, we’re always looking for a great sale, and these days they happen fairly often. Tokyo however, is almost never included. You’ll find Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore and just about every gateway in China, but hardly ever Japan. For those that are obsessed with all things Japanese, it’s all a bit sad. Today, for the first time in months, there’s a great deal to Tokyo, with Qatar Qsuites business class. Konichiwa, _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
The Japan Deals With Qatar Airways
Qatar Qsuite business class is genuinely revolutionary, and even a few years on is still one of the two best business class experiences in the sky. We’ll, skip the sales pitch and just say: you’ll freaking love it. That’s particularly true when you can enjoy its many delights en-route to Tokyo.
Qatar Airways just dropped some great fares out of Oslo and Copenhagen, and our friends Premium-Flights.com were kind enough to tip us off on this one. Budapest has also been added, but about £50 more. With the massive savings, it can easily be worth using a few miles or a cheap ticket to get your butt to one of these cities.
Don’t forget that you can credit the miles and elite status points from this flight to a variety of Oneworld airlines, not just Qatar. British Airways can be an excellent choice since you’d earn 560 tier points from these flights alone, putting you just shy of Silver status with BA, which gets lounge access for a year, even when flying economy.
The Dates You Can Travel
These deals are wide-freaking-open, with the exception of limited dates in March, April and July. If you want to travel in February, May, September, October, November or December you can practically pick your day, which is rare for such good Tokyo pricing.
As far as we can see, there’s no real minimum stay requirement, but you should plan to stay at least a few days to soak in the magic of Tokyo. If you have the time, do at least a week and half and hit Kyoto, Osaka and a few other cities too…
How To Book These Flight Deals
QatarAirways.com is the easiest place to book these deals, thanks to the flexible date calendar. Basically, search from OSL or CPH to TYO on your desired dates, and then when the prices load, select “15 day calendar” on the top right side of the screen. This will help you find dates when prices are the lowest.
Prices will show up in NOK for Oslo, and should come to around 15,000NOK round trip, and in Danish Kroner for Copenhagen, which will come out around 11,800DKK.
Here’s a review of the Qatar Airways QSuite, which you’ll definitely get between Doha and Tokyo on the longer flights of the trip. You may or may not get Qsuite on the flight out of Oslo or Copenhagen, depending on which flight you choose. Fortunately, Qatar does a good job of identifying the cabin you’ll get as you book. Here’s 10 things to do in Tokyo on your first trip, and why sushi in Tokyo is worth every penny. You’ll soon see why : )
Don’t forget that Qatar lets you hold deals for a reasonable fee for 24 hours, and with Japan, these deals are likely to fly by. If you need to consult with one of your associates, it’s better to put one on hold than to miss out.
Super—thanks! I’m torn about jumping on this, though, since currently I’m looking for ways to complete legs of just over 2,000mi in Biz for BA Gold. Any thoughts of how to do something like that with Qatar?
Hey Chris, not quite sure what you mean. You get 4x 140 tier points from this, so 560 BA tier points for these flights. More than a third of the way to Gold.
Almost the same price from BUD
