For those trying to avoid business class prices who miss the “old days” of airline flying, premium economy is just the ticket. Wider seats, extra legroom, better food and drinks and complimentary checked bags are the norm, versus things in the back where none of the above may apply.

British Airways has the lowest premium economy fares we’ve ever seen out of London at the moment, and with the ability to upgrade them using Avios, they could be one of the bargains of the year. That, and if you book for two, you could land three nights of hotel with the premium economy flights for £600 per person

The Premium Economy Deals

British Airways has £546 round trip premium economy (World Traveller Plus) fares to New York, but there are plenty of other cities around the same price. Considering you can often upgrade to business class, potentially including the new Club Suite, for around 20,000 Avios and £120 going East, that’s a phenomenal deal. Other deals include…

  • Boston at £596 return…
  • Chicago at £597 return…
  • Nashville at £650 return…

It’s also worth noting that while not a US destination, Abu Dhabi, less than an hours drive from Dubai is a mere £515 round trip. You can often get a flight + 3 night hotel package around £550, if booking for two, which is absurd value for a vacation with relative comfort.

Hot tip: if you do want to upgrade these flights to Club World – try searching for dates where a seat using Avios is available in Club World, and then book that flight premium with cash. Availability for upgrades is the same as using Avios outright, so it’s one and the same.

The Dates You Can Jet Off To The USA

These deals are available in most cities from now through May, with the exception of some blackouts in April. They reappear again in October through the end of 2020, in case you’re planning ahead.

Incredibly, for those who like a buzzing weekend getaway, a minimum stay of just two nights applies to most of these flights, so you could leave on a night flight Thursday or Friday and be back in time for work, after a nice slice of pizza in New York.

How To Book These Bargain Flights

I often say, if you think back just a couple years ago, £545 would be considered a very solid price for a round trip in economy. To get yourself more Avios, more tier points and a whole lot of extra space and comfort for the same price is a total bargain.
