It’s like a music festival without mud. So, better…
I’m not going to lie: I’m a bitter, music festival cast off. I tried, I really did, but I just couldn’t enjoy trekking through the rain in shoes meant for fishermen on the North Atlantic, with a backpack meant for adventurous hippies in the outskirts of Cambodia, all to queue up for hours, just to find a place for a pathetic excuse for a tent, and an even more pathetic excuse for toilets. The music took a backseat after enduring these hardships. With that in mind, I felt as if my greatest dreams of enjoying music in the summertime with others had been answered, when Marriott announced their very own series of music festivals at… wait for it.. actually nice hotels.
Who
W Hotels are launching Wake Up Call Music Festivals at W Hotels in Los Angeles, Barcelona, Bali and Dubai. Each festival is an opportunity to enjoy compelling music lineups, without all the mud, odors and grind of going to traditional music festivals. Think: stay in a nice W Hotel bed, wake up to free fitness classes (and perhaps cocktails) and then enjoy some Martin Solveig, Phantogram or Chromeo poolside.
What
Wake Up Call Festivals will feature 15-20 top artists, predominantly from the dance/electronic music scene, over the course of the 2/3 day events. The hotels will be exclusively bookable by Marriott and SPG members for the festival weekends, and every room booking scores festival tickets. In many cases, you can even use points to attend for free! Via SPG/Marriott Moments, you can also bid for VIP passes, including meet and greets and hangouts with headlining artists. For example, at the Wake Up Call Barcelona, you could spend 50,000 points for a two night stay, with festival passes and a private cocktails and canapés hangout with Martin Solveig, even if you just came to say hello.
When
These festivals will take place from Friday to Sunday, with the main events on Saturday and Sunday. If there was ever an excuse to hop on a plane, a semi private music festival, with a real bed only feet away, is certainly a good one. While we completely refuse to be held legally liable, we can assure you that any W Hotel room will beat camping, the bathrooms are so much nicer and hangovers are nowhere near as severe when you take a dip in the hotel pool the next morning.
- W Hollywood: September 1 -3
- W Barcelona: September 21 – 23
- W Bali: October 4-6
- W Dubai the Palm: TBD 2019.
- W Scottsdale is rumored as well.
How
Booking your festival tickets couldn’t be easier. Simply visit the Wake Up Call Festival website, select your city and get booking. You’ll have the option to pay cash or use points, and if you want one of the VIP experiences, like a two night stay, with a VIP party featuring Martin Solveig, you can also book via the SPG/Marriott Moments packages.
