Airlines and hotels sell points all the time, but it’s hardly ever a good deal. Today is an exception to that rule. British Airways are offering a 50% bonus on sales of their Avios points, meaning however many you buy – you’ll get 50% more for the same price. If you’ve been needing a few points to top off your account balance for something great – this is about as good as you’ll ever do, without actually earning the points from flying or spending of course!

The British Airways Avios Sale

Most opportunities to buy cheap Avios are via Groupon sales and Iberia, which frankly – can be a pain in the *** to use. But today, this sale is being offered by British Airways. You can buy Avios directly on the website and they should deposit into your account by the end of the day. You pay just 1.13 GBP pence per point, which is as low as we ever see. 30,000 Avios can be purchased for just £335, or 300,000 can be purchased for £3,350. If you know how to maximize your points, there’s real potential value there. In other currencies, the deals obviously may not be as sweet.

The Avios Opportunities

From British Airways upgrades to booking first or business class flights on British Airways or other top airlines like Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Qantas, American and more – there are ways to spend these points very well. Upgrades from premium economy to business on routes such as New York start at 20,000 points one way, which you could acquire for a cost of £255. That may very easily be cheaper than any upgrade offer. First Class on Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to Tokyo has no surcharges, and requires just 40,000 points one way. In the new sale you could acquire these points for less than £500, which is great value for a top flying experience. The opportunities are limitless.  Buy points hereDon’t forget, if you use a rewards credit card, you’ll earn additional points for making the purchase.

The Fine Print

This sale is valid from now thru May 8th, 2018 BST. You must purchase points during these dates to get your 50% instant bonus. If you don’t, you’ll pay more for fewer points. You can gift up to 200,000 Avios to anyone with a British Airways Executive Club account, not including the 100,000 point bonus. This equals a total of 300,000 points. The same goes for your personal points purchases. 300,000 should be a good start though!

  1. So if I combine this with my new Lloyd’s bank card where I earn 1.25 points per £1 spent and double points it would make it an even better deal???

  2. Not always the best option. I save a mere £120 using 18000 Avios on flights to Trinidad. 30000 Avios costing £335 will only save £200.
