Who

This is for you if you have Virgin Atlantic miles, Amex points, Citi points, SPG points or Chase points. The end goal is 120,000 Virgin Atlantic points for First Class. You can merge points from any of the above into your Virgin Atlantic account to get settled. ANA First Class is pretty much everything you could ever ask for from a flying experience and at the same price Virgin Atlantic would charge for business class, it’s absurdly cool. You’ll need 120,000 points round trip for First Class or 95,000 for Business Class round trip.

What

Good news. You can use Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles for flights on All Nippon Airways (ANA). After finding space on ANA, you book through Virgin Atlantic. You can find space using points on ANA by using the United Airlines, ANA, Award Nexus or ExpertFlyer. Simply search “using miles or points” and look for seats available in First Class. Ignore the points rates on the United or ANA sites. You just need to find a seat at the “saver” level. After seeing Gary Leff’s article about US availability, we ran a search for UK availability and it’s also excellent.

How

If you find a first class seat available using points you can call Virgin Atlantic to book it, with ease. You must search from places in the US, UK or Europe where ANA flies directly to Tokyo to make this work. There’s amazing availability for later dates in 2018, such as November. We found 15 available dates in a single month for flights between London and Tokyo. There are also lots of dates available from Boston, Chicago, Washington DC and West Coast US Cities. This is rare.
