We have a rule of thumb here at GSTP: when flat beds to Asia are available under $2000 round trip, it’s worth mentioning. Whether you’re a Star Alliance, OneWorld or SkyTeam fanatic, these deals have you covered with a great experience for the 30+ hour round trip journey in the air. Deals under $2000 don’t last long, so here’s what you need to know to save about $2000 on standard fares to Asia…
The Deals
Xiamen, Delta, Japan Airlines, China Southern and Air China are offering fantastic deals to China with amazing prices going into Beijing and Chengdu with solid but slightly more expensive deals into Hong Kong. You can jet off from Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco, at exceptionally good rates. Don’t forget, you can even pay for these tickets using Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou or Amex points and depending on your card, you may pay just roughly 120,000 points, while earning tons of points in return. Sure beats just cashing in points for no reward…
The Dates
We found these deals easily in April, May and June and then again in September, October, November and December of 2018, and then also into January, February and March of 2019. Each deal is slightly different in dates, but we’ll share easy links to find the best prices below…
How To Book
The very very best deals are from Vancouver, which is easy to reach with direct flights from both East and West Coast USA. Vancouver also has the best airport hotel in North America. These deals start at just $1390 on China Southern after clicking through. The next nest deals are from Los Angeles to Chengdu on SkyTeam member Xiamen, aboard their beautiful Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. These deals pop up as $2000 on Google Flights, but if you use Kayak or Momondo to book, you’ll see prices drop into low $1800s. Air China has the next lowest deals, also from Los Angeles, starting at around $1900 using online travel agencies. Find low fares on Google Flights and then play with booking sites to drop the price. United and Air Canada are both offering low fares from Seattle and San Diego respectively. Once again, it’s worth using an online travel agency to see if you can get the price lower. Finally, here’s the $2000 JAL deal from Vancouver to Beijing. This one can also be taken lower.
