When you’re facing over 20 hours of flight time in each direction, every tactic in the arsenal to wind up in a bed, rather than a traditional airline seat should be employed. Sure, there are £640 flight deals in economy from a few European cities, and even London, but you only live once and for £1795, the upgraded experience of business class makes the journey almost as fun as the destination. We say “almost”, because nowhere is as much fun as Australia. Etihad has dropped the price on flat bed business class to Sydney, so here’s how to get in while the flat beds are going!
We’re just not seeing the same quality business class deals from Europe to Australia that we used to, so when price drops happen, it’s good to get in. Etihad is battling it out with Qatar Airways from Scandinavia to win the most passenger traffic to Australia, and after last weeks Qatar flash sale, Etihad has an unannounced version of their own. You’ll find the lowest business class prices from Gothenburg, Sweden to Sydney and have options including Boeing 787 to Airbus A380 and 787 to 777. The A380 offers the best Etihad business class experience, with an on board bar. For roughly £50 more, you can depart from Oslo, Norway or Stockholm, Sweden as well.
Unlike many other sales, there’s actually quite a lot of good availability. You can jet off between Monday and Thursday, and even on a few Sundays with wide open options in February, March, April, May and June. Basically, if you need to get to Australia in the first half the year, these are pretty excellent options. For those who make multiple trips, and are starting from Australia, these can even make sense if you use points or a great cash fare to reach Europe, and then use these to return and come back to Europe again.
From Gothenburg, Stockholm or Oslo you’re looking at a connection in Amsterdam, Brussels or Frankfurt and one more in Abu Dhabi. The lounges in Abu Dhabi are phenomenal, and you can even pay a bit extra to use the “Residence” lounge too. You can book these hot deals for £1795, which is about 10,600 SEK each way, directly with Etihad.
