Without a doubt, the Airbus A350 is an aircraft to marvel. At the top of conversation for combating jet lag, passenger comfort and last but not least – style, it’s a force in todays travel world. Iberia will lay hands on their first A350 delivery in June and they’ve made major announcements of plans for their state of the art new aircraft…
New York City
Iberia has announced New York City as its first Airbus A350 destination. This is great news for transatlantic commuters, and represents the first Airbus A350 between Europe and New York City. According to Business Traveller, the plane will make initial movements between Spain and London, as the crews familiarize themselves with the new plane. This could be a neat way to sample the new plane on the cheap, within Europe.
New Cabins
Iberia has invested in a cabin refresh for their new A350 delivery. Business class will feature a longer and wider bed, with larger HD entertainment screens. There will be 24 premium economy seats and 293 economy seats. The Iberia Airbus A350 will feature new wifi service, which promises to be fast. Here are the best wifi airlines in the world, for comparison.
Why You Care
Iberia operates within the Avios program. You can instantly create Avios with American Express, Chase or SPG points – or by flying Iberia, British Airways or any OneWorld alliance airline. Their taxes and fees are lower than British Airways, and with the new seats there may be reason to venture over to Madrid for a New York trip.
Dates
The aircraft will begin training service between Madrid and London in June. Passengers can book onto these flights and can largely expect business as usual, just with a cool new plane. The Iberia Airbus A350-900 will begin long haul service between Madrid and New York on August 8th on flights 6250 and 6251. From September 1st, Iberia 6252 and 6253 will also receive the A350.
Will you test out the new Iberia A350 this year?
Iberia site still says A340-600 for the JFK flight, I assume that’ll change by the summer?
That’s correct! Not rostered yet but will replace 340 service.
How about releasing seating plans for Iberia’s new A359? When can we expect to see that?
