#Avgeek Valentines Day: Iconic TWA Airport Hotel At JFK Taking Reservations…

If you love travel, you probably adore the movie Catch Me If You Can. Reason number one: Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. Reason number two: scenes in the truly iconic Eero Saarinen designed TWA Terminal at New York’s JFK Airport, essentially the epitome of the jet set golden age. It’s as beautiful outside as in, and instantly recognizable around the world. Come May 15th, 2019 it’ll be open again, perhaps even more stylish and comfortable than ever.

For starters, there’s a cocktail bar created out of a 1958 Lockheed Constellation. It doesn’t get any more jet set than that. Next, there’s a Jean Georges restaurant, sure to beat out any other food for miles. Guests of the new, incredibly convenient, 512 bedroom hotel will find 50’s and 60’s inspired nostalgia at every turn, with Eero Saarinen designed furniture, including his often imitated signature chair design.

Think: five star hotel, with easy Air Train connectivity to JFK’s many terminals, and a direct walkway into Terminal 5. If you’ve got an early JetBlue flight, this is a particularly cool indulgence. Thanks to the Air Train, no terminal should be more than 10 minutes away. Oh, and apparently you can see One World Trade Center from the top floor lounge.

The TWA Hotel is part of a much bigger revolution. As crazy flight schedules rein, travelers look for palatable, easy new accommodation access for their late arrivals or early departures. The Fairmont Vancouver Airport to the Crowne Plaza Changi were amongst the first to bring a traditional five star hotel experience to of all things, an airport.

Rooms start at $249 per night but promises Manhattan standards. Each guest room features ultra quiet glazing to ensure even the largest engine booms don’t interrupt beauty sleep.
