Hotel brands want you back, and to pull you back into travel, there are some incredibly attractive promotions out at the moment. IHG is no exception, with a promotion offering up to 4X points on all stays, which can then stack with other benefits from the IHG Rewards program, and can be even sweeter for those with an IHG credit card.
Up To 4X On IHG Hotel Stays
IHG’s latest promotion offers up to 4X the usual points on hotel stays, from the standard 10X you earn at most brands all the way up to 40X, thanks to the four times boost. The promotion isn’t perhaps as lucrative as it should be given the times, and requires a few stays before you get to enjoy full perks, but the end goals can be worth it.
- 2X Points on your first two stays.
- 3X Points on your third IHG stay.
- 4X Points on the rest, through September 8th.
For stays after September 8th, 2020 the 4X wears off once again. All directly booked rates over $30 qualify, so if you happen to have any lower end stays in the cards, it’s best to get those over with first, so you can enjoy the 4X on more expensive stays, where every dollar spent will be multiplied by at least 40X, rather than 20X, or 30X.
What Hotels Count?
IHG has an enormous portfolio of hotels from basic roadside accommodations to five star uber luxury spots in the remote corners of the globe. All hotels worldwide participating in IHG Rewards count, so there are plenty of options.
All IHG brands, like Intercontinental, Kimpton, Crown Plaza, Regent, Voco and Holiday Inn will earn at the rates mentioned up to 40X before elite status or credit cards, with the exception of Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites, which earn half.
IHG Rewards Credit Card And Elite Status For The Win…
For IHG Rewards Credit Card holders in the USA and elsewhere, the numbers go even further. The Chase IHG Rewards Card offers 10X Points, and the Platinum status that comes with the card brings another 5X, for a total of 55X per dollar, if you max out the promotion.
For IHG Spire Elites who have the IHG Premier Credit Card, it goes to a whopping 60X. Even without the credit card, an IHG Platinum Elite guest is earning 45X, and Spire 50X. That’s phenomenal earning potential, particularly for summer travel.
The Boring T&C Kinda Stuff
Before you go too crazy with the bookings, each stay is limited to earning 100,000 points per stay, and earning from the promotion is capped at a total of 400,000 total bonus points. It would be quite impressive to max it out. You also MUST register first, before any of the bonus point goodness kicks in.
You can register for the IHG 4X Summer 2020 Promotion here.
Full T&C’s for the offer can be found directly with IHG here. Obviously, you’ll need an IHG Rewards account to participate, but they’re free to create and you can register for the promotion immediately afterwards if you don’t yet have one. If you’re staying at any IHG Brands this summer, make sure you’re maxing out your points…
