Some of you may know that for special fancy frequent flyers, an airline will occasionally grant them the same status they have on another airline just to entice them to switch over. It’s a bold move. Well, JetBlue just upped the ante for all travelers, offering to match anyones point balance from their Virgin America account if they take just one round trip flight. Even if you don’t have points with Virgin America right now, you can still take advantage…

The Promotion…

It’s as simple as it sounds, JetBlue will match or beat your current Virgin America points balance offering you the equivalent of your balance in JetBlue points with no pressure or promises if you take one JetBlue round trip flight anywhere. You get to keep your Virgin America points afterward, meaning instead of having just one balance of points with Virgin America, you’ll now have two balance of points with both great airlines…

So How Can I Take Advantage If I Don’t Currently Have Points?

Good timing is always a lovely thing. Currently, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), the hotel points program, is having a sale on their points. You care because for every 20,000 SPG points you have, you can turn those into 25,000 Virgin America points overnight by transferring them. Essentially, you can turn a 20,000 mile purchase with Starwood into, 25,000 points with Virgin America (enough for one way Virgin Atlantic Upper Class) and a whopping 30,000 points with JetBlue (more on that later), giving you 55,000 airline miles for $490 (£358). Pretty amazing. Buy SPG Points to turn them into Virgin America + Jet Blue Points HERE.

I Really Want This, How Do I Match My Points…

First things first, send an email with a screenshot of your Virgin America points (which you can instantly create) to pointsmatch@jetblue.com with your first and last name, your JETBLUE frequent flyer number (click here if you need to make one), and the balance of your points written out. You must register for the promotion by July 4th. After registering, you’ll receive official confirmation from JetBlue that you’re registered and ready to fly. When you get that email, the second is that you must book and travel on one round trip flight on JetBlue (anywhere) before August 31st 2016. That’s it. Enjoy your points.

Are There Bonuses? You BET!

Here’s their breakdown. If you have between 1,000-5,000 points you’ll get 5,000 JetBlue, if you have between 5,000-10,000 you’ll get 10,000 JetBlue. If you have between 10,000-30,000, you’ll get 30,000 JetBlue. If you have 30,000-50,000 you’ll get 50,000 and over 50,000 you’ll get 75,000!
