Thinking out loud, this is a great opportunity, but as the wise points and miles gurus you’re becoming, you must also always consider the opportunity cost. If the cost from buying miles brings a ticket to $2,000 round trip and the outright cash price is $5,000, it’s a no brainer. On the other hand, if the difference is say $2,000 or $2,250, you must remember that by using miles, you miss out on earning miles or elite status credit, which can be worth far more than $250.
