Marriott Launches Newest Points Promo, With 2,000 Bonus Points…

Marriott Bonvoy has unveiled their final bonus promotion of 2019, called “Unlock More”. What’s “more” you ask? Well, sadly – not much to start. The promotion offers 2,000 points after two stays, but there’s a large element of mystery that follows afterwards. Marriott Bonvoy “Unlock More” Promo

From the sound of it, the latest Marriott Bonvoy promotion is leading toward more personalized promos for each guest, a la IHG’s personalized “Accelerate” offers. All Marriott Bonvoy members who complete two stays between October 29th, 2019 and January 14th, 2020 are awarded with a meagre 2,000 bonus points upon completion of the second paid stay. In theory though, there’s a silver lining…

Once the second stay is completed and the 2,000 bonus points post, a personal offer for additional earning will be unveiled. Unfortunately – that’s all that’s known for now. It could be huge, bringing hundreds of thousands of points, or it could be another 1,000 points to say “thanks for playing”.

• Stay Twice on a points eligible rate
• Earn 2,000 Bonus Marriott Bonvoy Points
• Pray you get an attractive offer for many more.

It’s not exactly a 2 for 1 buffet at Gordon Ramsay, but something is usually better than nothing and this is Marriott’s final loyalty promo of 2019, so don’t wait around hoping for a better deal.

Is this worth doing? Yes, if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy person, it’s absolutely worth participating, or at the very least, registering. But is this worth going out of your way to work in a couple extra stays, or a few extra nights? They’ve made that determination impossible, and that’s frustrating.

Only one room per night counts towards the promotion, and 2,000 bonus points just won’t get you very far. If you’re a loyalist and will be staying anyway, it’s a total no brainer to register and reap any and all rewards that come from the initial offer and any subsequent ones. But when you think of these promos as a way of encouraging additional consumer behavior, I’m certainly not rushing out to book any extra stays.
