As passengers seek direct – point to point flights, airlines which require connections are getting creative with their passenger bait. A free night in a five star hotel is usually pretty great bait. Oman Air is now the latest airline to add a free stopover night for select travellers, and unlike many overnight hotel accommodations, this one is in an incredible Ritz Carlton. in the delightful city of Muscat…
The Oman Air Offer
For the summer (and hopefully beyond), passengers traveling in business or first class between the Far East or India and Europe (either direction) are entitled to a free night at the Ritz. More specifically, a night at the Al Bustan Palace by Ritz Carlton. The Palace is one of the best Ritz Carlton locations anywhere, perched on an enviable position along the beach in Muscat, Oman. Basically, to take advantage, you need…
- A round trip business class ticket from Europe to India or Asia. Or reverse.
- That’s pretty much it.
The free stopover offer allows up to two people to enjoy one room for one night, with breakfast. This allows passengers to break up their journey and check out Muscat at no additional cost. If one night in Muscat doesn’t seem like enough, the airline has negotiated “remarkable” discounted rates (their words) for each additional night.
Muscat Is Awesome
So many airlines have added free stopover programs, but Muscat is actually city worth visiting. The Ritz sits between the Sea of Oman and the purple hued Hajar Mountains. Speaking of which, if you do opt for a second night, a trip into the Anantara or Alila set atop the mountains is worth every cent. If the first night is free, there’s a lot to love. Oman Air has been toting extremely competitive business fares from Europe to Asia.
How To Book The Free Night
The process seems a bit hokey. Guests are instructed to book a complimentary night with Marriott and then present their business or first class boarding pass at check in. It seems possible to book a free night directly online with Marriott, but availability is hard to judge. In reality, it’s probably easiest to visit the Muscat stopover website and perhaps call an Oman Air agent to sort out appropriate flights and look into hotel. Either way, it’s a great offer.
You can’t do much more than just stay at the hotel. No time to visit the city.
