New plane smell > new car smell.
If you love that “new car” smell, you’re going to adore the “new plane'” smell, aboard Iberia’s state of the art new Airbus A350 aircraft. The airline has just taken delivery of its newest jet, and before it goes long haul, they’re giving it a European test run. Translation? You can try out a really cool long haul flat bed business class seat, for the cozy 2.5 hour flight between London, Paris and Madrid, for just 15,000 points and a few bucks…
Summer Fun
Iberia has just received their first A350, and before it begins shuttling customers around the world, the airline is using London and Paris as their test markets, to get the crews familiar with the plane. From July 20th to August 3rd, Iberia will operate a once daily flight between Madrid and London in both directions. On July 27th, Iberia will theoretically also add a second jet onto the Madrid – Paris Orly route. With tickets going for just 15,000 British Airways or Iberia Avios and about €17 one way, it presents a fantastic opportunity to see what life up front is all about, and check out one of the newest planes in the sky. Oh, and here’s why the A350 is a game changer.
The Details
These flights can be easily booked using British Airways or Iberia Avios, American Airlines AAdvantage or Cathay Pacific AsiaMiles. Each of these flights would run 15,000 one way, or 30,000 round trip. As of writing, there’s still very good availability. The Airbus A350 will operate 3166, 3167 respectively between London and Madrid and 3435, 3436 between Madrid and Paris. If you happened to take advantage of the Iberia 9,000 Bonus Avios Deal last week, this could be a fun way to book up to three people in round trip business.
Finding Seats
The easiest way to find seats is by searching on BritishAirways.com while logged in, or Iberia.com while logged into your account. If you don’t have one, simply create one for free. Look for the specific flight numbers above to each city, and double check with Google Flights to ensure you’ll they’re showing the A350 for your dates as well. You can always set alerts using ExpertFlyer or AwardNexus as well, if you don’t immediately see what you’re looking for.
Great find. I want to try it.
I snagged a seat in late July. Madrid to Heathrow. Google flights showed the aircraft type but BA showed it as tbd.
Looking forward to it!
Was looking for an excuse to go to Madrid again!
