Muahahaha- after countless TV appearances, thousands of new friends and followers and lots of amusement I can officially say that “Catch Me If You Can” really is the gift that keeps on giving. For me at least. NO ONE HAS FOUND ME. I’ve spent lots of time on planes, been to airports in multiple continents and not so much as a wink or a nod- let alone a seat exchange, minus the one fun British Airways upgrade quest. In the spirit of fairness, here are some new clues and thoughts on the contest.
First, An Observation…
Since the launch of the competition I’ve spent much more time observing others in the airport than I used to. The only thing that’s emerged from this past time, other than confirming that I am almost an entirely irrelevant travel personality- is that people wouldn’t have found me even if they were sitting next to me. People look down and stick to themselves in airports. There’s far less people watching than I’d imagine. Even when airlines have warned customers that I’d be at the airport, people just haven’t been looking up. Candy Crush is hard to compete with…
Next Immediate Chances To Find Me…
The next chance to find me will be rather obvious. Departing from my favorite NYC airport on a day with two matching digits in the month of October, I’ll have a camera crew following me around before my flight to a place I’ll soon call home. They want to see someone get upgraded, and if it’s gotta happen, I sure hope it’s one of the wonderful people who read this site. After that I’ll be in Amsterdam, Doha, Tokyo, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Vancouver, Seattle, Sydney, Melbourne, Queenstown, Auckland and back again- all before heading over to India to finish off the contest. If you take a look at the route map, you can really narrow down the airlines I’m taking to each place…
Game On, See Ya In The Sky!
This competition is all about fun and games. I hope some of you have enjoyed following and playing along, even if we haven’t crossed paths yet. Travel is the ultimate privilege, and as I said at the start- if I can make someone’s day, while getting to connect with someone whose read about my site- it’s a win win. Let’s make it happen, eh?
When does this end?
Is that all the rest of this year?!?
Dayum.
Here’s my plans for the rest of the year: http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=SFO-SEA
