The “best” anything is always going to be subjective.

I’ve stayed at the Viceroy Bali, but I’ve also watched it grace the top spot on many of the most prestigious hotel lists, year in and year out, including the Condé Nast Traveler 2018 Best Resorts list. Not only did it beat all the hotels in Bali, it placed #1 in the world. Between my not so humble opinion and the other innumerable accolades, the Viceroy Bali is one of the best. You care today, because its 25 heavenly suites are now bookable with points.

Just outside Ubud, perched on a tropical cliffside overlooking a gorgeous river with monkeys swinging tree to tree and infinity pools galore, it’s like something from the heavens.

Unlike most of the best exclusive hotels on the island, it’s quite small with just 25 suite only accommodations and at last count, a 2:1 staff to guest ratio. Yes, that’s two staff for every guest. Thanks to Hyatt’s clever partnership with Small Luxury Hotels (SLH), it’s now bookable with points.

While cash prices begin at over $561 per night, you can use just 30,000 World Of Hyatt Points to book a fantastic room. And in case you didn’t know, your Chase Ultimate Rewards Points can be instantly transferred to World of Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio, which means your Chase Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve can be used here, in addition to the World Of Hyatt credit card. Of course, you can also earn points from actually staying at Hyatt Hotels too ; )

But back to the hotel, because while points are exciting, the hotel is thrilling, however you choose to book. Here’s a review. The CasCades restaurant maintains virtually Michelin standards using farm to table ingredients and offering chef’s tasting menu dinners for an absolutely exquisite taste of Balinese cuisine. The freshly baked pastries in the morning certainly don’t hurt either.

Really though, it’s the completely private, warm infinity pools overlooking the jungle which make many of the rooms like nowhere else on earth. Each room feels more like a private apartment, replete with luxury and seclusion.

With just 25 total rooms you never feel as if you’re in a mega resort. Other than breakfast or dinner, you may literally never see another soul, unless you want to. The main pool is iconically famous, thanks to photos like the following, and guests tend to sunbathe and relax along the poolside bar…

Basically, it’s the best place ever, and being able to book it using points or earn Hyatt nights when you pay for it means you can live your best life for less. Bali time?

  1. I’ve stayed at this one last summer. I am a hyatt guy… have stayed at top Hyatt hotels around the world and I would go back to this one if I get a chance to visit Bali again.
Being able to burn points and get elite credit is a wonderful news.

  2. btw, I see that redemption option has been already implemented. 30k points for the basic pool suite but you want the Terris Villa. I wonder if there is an upgrade path for points booking. I know my globalist status mean nothing to them…

  3. Hey Gilbert. Just wanted to thank you as I got a cracking deal here for the terrace villa via club1hotels. If it wasn’t for your site, I would have never known about the free membership. Got it for a much much better rate than official and OTA rates. Makes all the difference for a 4 night stay.

  4. @VK, care to elaborate on what the ‘free membership’ you are referring to? I’m assuming Club1hotels you referenced but wanted to confirm. And can you share what deal you received on the Terrace Villa through this? Thanks!
