It’s been said many, many times, that all the “good stuff” in UK travel is skewed too far to the Southeast. Despite its position as the second largest city in the UK, Manchester has never enjoyed a world class airport, nor does it often benefit from the competitive low fares found out of London, either. Virgin Atlantic seems poised to change that, not only including departures from Manchester amongst the lowest fares in its current sale, but announcing plans to build a full scale Clubhouse lounge at Manchester Airport too…

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse Coming To Manchester

If you’re into all things business class, you probably know that Virgin Atlantic is credited with one particular element of their business class experience being way above the rest: the departure lounge.

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Heathrow, and also at New York JFK are at the highest end of the business class lounge spectrum, and now Manchester is set to receive its own, as Virgin expands routes and frequencies from Manchester to destinations throughout the USA and Caribbean. In addition to a first ever Clubhouse in Manchester, the Virgin Holidays “V-Room” lounge will also be completely refurbed for Virgin Holidays guests.

No official date is set, but Virgin Atlantic has announced that Manchester Airport will receive its own famous Clubhouse lounge in Spring 2020. The airline is currently ramping up a winter 2019 schedule which sees 30,000 more seats available for travellers.

New Virgin Atlantic Routes And Expanded Frequencies

Virgin Atlantic is expanding services from Manchester to New York, making the Boeing 747 a full time fixture on the route, which will carry more passengers on each and every flight. With any luck, you might even get the special Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge B747 livery.

The airline is also increasing services to both Barbados and Orlando, and will maintain its routes to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Boston and various destinations throughout the Caribbean. This increase in services follows on the trend of Virgin Atlantic increasing services from Manchester by 92% since the year 2014. In the end, more flights means more competition, which in turn should bring lower prices.

Speaking of which, today is the last day of the Virgin Atlantic September sale..
